Belgium, Bahamas and Andorra added to UK counterblockade list

.

Trippers returning to the UK from Belgium, The Bahamas and Andorra will have to counterblockade for two weeks from Saturday.

The three countries have been removed from the government’s‘ safe list’ following a shaft in coronavirus cases.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the new rule will come into force at 4 am on August 8.

France and Malta, which had been at threat of being added to the counterblockade list, remain classified as‘ safe’for now, despite signs of a alternate surge in the former and cases in the ultimate trebling in recent weeks.

Belgium, The Bahamas and Andorra are the rearmost to be affected by a change in trip advice, after Spain and Luxembourg saw insulationsre-imposed last month.

The government said data from the Joint Biosecurity Centre and Public Health England indicated a significant change in both the position and pace of verified cases of coronavirus in all three countries, leading to ministers removing these from the current list of trip corridors.

There has been a harmonious increase in Covid-19 cases per in Belgium since the middle of July, while in Andorra, new cases per week have increased5-fold in the once three weeks and in the Bahamas, the daily case rate peaked at78.6 last week, over from3.1 inmid-July.

Last week, Belgium introduced new restrictions which mean people can only meet the same

five people outside their ménage in a month.

According to numbers published on Thursday, Belgium has a rate of49.2 new cases per people, above the UK’s rearmost rate of14.3. For comparison, Spain’s rate was27.4 around the time it was removed from the UK’s trip corridor list.

The Foreign Office is now advising against all but essential trip to the three new destinations on the counterblockade list, potentially hanging thousands of leaves if breakouts are cancelled.

Up to1.8 million British citizens visit Belgium every time, while visit Andorra. In 2018, the Bahamas saw further than visits from the UK.

People who don't tone- insulate when needed can be fined up to £ in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland and those returning to Scotland could be fined £ 480, with forfeitures up to £ for patient malefactors.

The government has advised it'll reply‘ fleetly’to any shaft in cases and it's probably more countries will be taken off the counterblockade impunity list in the coming months, while others could be added on.

Following this week’s trip review passengers arriving to England from Brunei and Malaysia wo n’t have to counterblockade so long as they have n’t been in or covered through any othernon-exempt countries in the 14 days antedating their appearance.

Before it was reported that an air ground with Portugal could be blazoned in the coming weeks, though the government is yet to confirm this.
